The need to improve health financing in Russia at least to 5% of GDP was discussed at the Congress of the National medical chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of health, said the head of the research Institute of emergency children’s surgery and traumatology Leonid Roshal.

At the end of October Roshal met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed, in particular the work of the Congress of the National medical chamber.

«Now Congress passed the National medical chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of health, and we are one of the first questions raised the need to increase health financing to 5%. And in conversation with Putin and I spoke about this. And he agreed that it should be done. Subject to availability,» said Roshal.

«But we have the Minister of Finance, in whose eyes I hadn’t seen, I understand he has a complicated case, but when he has a research Institute, which I’ve read, says that further decline in the share of health in GDP… well, on the fork lift» — said Roshal.
