Yakutia proposed to develop a programme of training and methodological support of teachers of the languages of indigenous and small peoples of the North in the framework of modernization of the content and educational technologies of training in the native languages of indigenous peoples, reported RIA Novosti, first Deputy Minister of education of Yakutia Feodosiya Gabysheva.

TM participated in the first all-Russian Congress of teachers of native languages, literature and culture of the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation, which was held on November 20-21 in St-Petersburg. The Congress brought together 350 representatives from 25 regions of Russia. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) was represented by a delegation of 47 people, including 16 teachers from the Arctic areas.

«Today the education system as a whole, including teachers of native languages of indigenous peoples, are the new target. In the country transition to new educational standards at all levels of education. There is a need of modernization of the content and educational technologies of training in languages of indigenous and small peoples of the North, and which was intended to promote the Congress. We, in particular, proposed to develop a programme of training and methodological support for teachers of native languages, literature and culture of the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East», — said TM.

She recalled that one of the tasks set by the Concept of sustainable development of the North, Siberia and the Far East for the period up to 2025 is to increase access to educational resources of the Northern indigenous minorities based on their ethnic and cultural features, the preservation of their cultural heritage.

«I believe that the Congress has become a point of reference to solve problems and to improve the system of education as the Foundation of sustainable development of indigenous peoples of our country», — concluded Gabysheva.

As explained in the press service of the Ministry of education of RS (Ya), Yakutia was the initiator of the event. The head of the Republic Egor Borisov in the greeting to participants of the Congress noted that in the Republic «are all necessary conditions for the present and future of indigenous peoples, for their comprehensive development, taking all necessary measures to prevent the disappearance of separate ethnic groups and nationalities in the context of global processes». Borisov recalled that since the 90-ies of the last century in the Republic has been implementing a comprehensive direction, «Arctic education,» which provides children quality education while maintaining national identity.

In the framework of the Congress was established by the interregional public movement «Association of teachers of Armenian language and literature of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East.» Another result of the forum was the project of the concept of teaching native languages, literature and culture of the indigenous minorities of the North, Siberia and the Far East.
