The state Council of Komi on Thursday declared inconsistent with the Federal law on basic guarantees of electoral rights of citizens the issue of moving the capital of the Republic from Syktyvkar to Ukhta, which is expected in the future to put to a referendum, reported RIA of news in Department on public relations and mass media of the state Council.

«Today adopted a resolution according to which the question: «do you Agree that in the Komi Republic adopted the law on amendments to the Constitution… providing for the transfer of the capital… from the city of Syktyvkar in the city of Ukhta?», proposed to be submitted to a referendum, found to comply with the requirements of the Federal law on basic guarantees of electoral rights and the right to participate in a referendum of citizens of the Russian Federation and the law of the Komi Republic on elections and referendums,» — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, the corresponding resolution shall be sent to the national electoral Commission.

As explained to RIA Novosti in this Department, after receiving this document, the election Commission will register the initiative group, which, after observance of necessary legal formalities have to start collecting signatures of residents of the region in support of a future referendum. «Within a month the initiative group must collect no less than 13.7 thousand signatures, representing 2% of the number of registered voters,» — said the representative of the election Committee of Komi.
