In the agenda of the Council of bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church included the discussion of the meeting between Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis in Havana, participants will formulate their attitude to received a great response to the event, told RIA Novosti Deputy Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Archpriest Nikolai Balashov.

The bishops ‘ Council meets once in four years. This year it is dedicated to the celebration of the restoration of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church. The sessions of the Council will be held in Moscow in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour under chairmanship of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on 29 November to 4 December 2017.

«The Cathedral will discuss including the value of the meeting with the Pope in Havana and Express your attitude to what happened. Still at this level was not discussed,» — said the priest.

Historic meeting between Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis was held on 12 February 2016 the building of the international airport of Havana. A meeting of this level was the first in the history of Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches.

Most of the topics raised at the meeting of the two religious leaders remain relevant in the middle East and Africa continue persecution of Christians, there is a growing social stratification, and traditional values in the West, repeated statements of the Russian Orthodox clergy, are under threat. At the same time, many of the faithful expressed their disagreement with the personal communications of heads of major Christian Churches. New meetings between the Patriarch and the Pope is not expected.
