The OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir plans to discuss with representatives of the U.S. government U.S. law and registered as a foreign agent to indicate to the inadmissibility of recognition registered as a foreign agent any media, including Russian, said to RIA Novosti, the head of the Federation Council Commission on information policy Alexei Pushkov.

«I understand that Mr. Desir plans to discuss American law on registered as foreign agents with the U.S., as the OSCE considers that the recognition of any media registered as a foreign agent is unacceptable, because it contradicts the values and norms that protects the organization,» Pushkov said after the meeting with the Dezir.

According to the Russian Senator, the meeting discussed and endorsed by the Federation Council on Wednesday the law on mass media-registered as a foreign agent.

«From our side it was noted that it is impossible to equate the US and Russia in this matter. If in the USA it has been in force and effect already common in the RT, in Russia, a similar law was adopted solely as a response, the mirror measures, and implementation has not yet begun,» — said Pushkov.

Also, he reminded that OSCE has not yet been expressed criticism of the US authorities, despite the fact that the RT pressure was forced to register as noagenda.

«In General, the conversation was done in a rather constructive way, I think I was able to fully communicate our position to the understanding of the representative of the OSCE», — said the Senator.
