Two helicopter pilot sentenced Thursday by the Supreme court of Colombia to 30 years in prison for the bombing of the village of Santo Domingo during operations against the rebels of the Revolutionary armed forces (FARC) in 1998.

During the bombing he killed 17 villagers, another 21 were injured.

According to the text of the court decision, the pilots were alerted and can see that the rebels hid in the village among the civilians, but still decided to use a cluster bomb.

Previously, the government of Colombia has already paid millions in compensation in this case. Additionally, the government in Bogota had not acknowledged the bombing and said that it was about the explosion of a truck loaded with ammunition of the rebels themselves, according to the portal Tiempo.
