Official opening of the exhibition «Modigliani, Soutine and other legends of Montparnasse» will take place on Friday at the fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg with the participation of Minister of culture of Russia Vladimir Medina, visitors can get acquainted with works of leading artists of Paris school from 25 November to 25 March.

«The Russian audience will see for the first time a unique collection of paintings by leading artists of the Paris school of the first third of the XX century, gathered their contemporary and patron Jonas Netter. The exhibition will feature the most high-profile names and shows the main gems of the collection of the Netter paintings, Amedeo Modigliani, Chaim Soutine, Maurice Utrillo, as well as the work of Moses Kisling, Maurice Vlaminck, Andre Derain, Suzanne Valadon and other legendary masters of Paris», — stated in the message of the Museum.

The masterpieces of the collection include, in particular, the portraits created by Modigliani in the last years of his life, including two portraits of his friend and inspirer of Jeanne hebuterne. The artist met her at the end of 1916, when hébuterne was 18-year-old student at a private art school. «Modigliani made more than 20 portraits of Jeanne. Their love story, captured in his portraits, became one of the most famous romantic stories in twentieth-century art. Jeanne shared with modi (friendly nickname Modigliani, ed.), adversity and committed suicide the day after his death on 24 January 1920», — stated in the message of the Faberge Museum.

At the exhibition in St. Petersburg will be a selection of paintings by a close friend of Modigliani, a native of Russia, Chaim Soutine, created their own kind of expressionism. Visitors will see more than 120 works by artists of the Paris school.

The exhibition, organized by the cultural-historical Foundation «Link of times» and the Faberge Museum in St. Petersburg recommended for visitors aged 16 years.
