Rogozin on cooperation between Russia and Venezuela: Caracas need not fish, but fishing rod

Venezuela needs to give her a fishing rod and not the fish, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, speaking about development of bilateral cooperation.

He stressed the importance of partnership of both countries and relations between Moscow and Caracas, noting that Venezuela to the Russian Federation is «entry into Latin America.»

«Venezuela does not need to gave her fish, she needs to give her a fishing rod. Today we are about this rod and say,» — said Rogozin reporters after the 13th meeting of the intergovernmental Commission of Russia and Venezuela in Sochi.

Russia and Venezuela develop mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, industry, trade, transport, agriculture, housing, education and science, culture, prevention and liquidation of emergency situations and also in military-technical sphere and Finance.

According to the Federal customs service (FCS) of Russia, the volume of bilateral trade in 2016 amounted to more than 336 million dollars, including Russian export — 334,2 million dollars, import — $ 1.8 million.
