The EU project «Eastern partnership» is not aimed against Russia, said the head of the European Council Donald Tusk at a press conference after the Eastern partnership summit.

Eastern partnership is not directed against Russia. This is not a geopolitical competition between Russia and the European Union, but a real partnership between sovereign countries,» he said.

Eastern partnership is a policy initiative of the EU, which aimed at rapprochement with the European Union’s six Eastern neighbors — Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. It provides a significant increase in the level of political interaction, broad integration of former Soviet republics into the EU economy and the increase in provide them with financial assistance. While participation in the program does not involve the prospect of EU membership.
