The state Duma adopted a law on video surveillance of the vote count in the presidential elections

The state Duma adopted in the third reading a law that allows members of the Public chamber of Russia to be observers in the presidential elections and provides for video surveillance of the vote count.

The authors of the bill made by the head of the state Duma Committee on state construction and legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov, the Chairman of the Committee on constitutional legislation and state building of the Federation Council Andrey Klishas. The relevant amendments are proposed to the law «On elections of the President of the Russian Federation».

The law proposes to expand the list of entities that will be able to appoint their observers to election commissions during elections of the President. According to the document, observers will have the right to direct the Public chamber of the Russian Federation and the public chamber of the Russian Federation. Thus the public chamber of entrepreneurs will be able to nominate observers to election commissions located in the respective region.

As previously noted Krasheninnikov, the extension of the control powers of social houses aimed at implementation and protection of electoral rights of citizens during elections of the President. According to the MP, this will ensure transparency of the electoral process, which is one of the most important principles of elections.

In addition, it is envisaged that Trustee candidates are also given the opportunity to assign to each precinct election Commission several observers entitled alternately to monitor the voting and other electoral activities in polling stations.

The law also provides for the possibility of placing video surveillance and broadcasting of images in premises of territorial election commissions in establishing the results of voting by them.

Thus, with the adoption of the surveillance law would be possible not only in voting but in the counting of votes in the territorial election Commission. According to Krasheninnikov, it will allow to eliminate possible errors and to limit the possibility of fraud during the counting of votes, thereby strengthening the trust of citizens in the election results.

Regular elections of the President of Russia will be held in March 2018, the campaign is supposed to start in December 2017.
