A rally against air pollution and against the construction of the Tominsk GOK (GOK, draft RMK) was held in Chelyabinsk on Saturday, and was attended by over three thousand people, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.

As previously reported by press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin in early November after a visit to Chelyabinsk called the sharer of the neighborhood of the village of churilovo, then got in touch with the Chelyabinsk Governor, and asked to take tighter control of the shared construction. He added that the President also called one of the representatives of the movement «Stop the mine,» which challenges the construction plans Tominsk GOK. After that the Chelyabinsk Governor held a meeting with activists of the movement «Stop mining».

«2017 is the year of the environment, and this year Chelyabinsk is experiencing environmental problems. So, the year began with smog — suffering Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Karabash, Satka. In the year of the environment launched a project for the construction of the GOK. And also we have lately been covered with a cloud of ruthenium,» said the rally leader of the movement «Stop mining» Vasily Moskovets.

He said that after a call to Vladimir Putin’s public men were invited to the Governor, where he set up meetings and consultations on mine. And it is not the negotiations with RMK. «In this case the position of public men is very simple: the draft is unacceptable in any form: whether due to 1 thousands of jobs, which will give the construction of the mine, to cut down 3 thousand hectares of the forest,» he added.

According to the organizers, the rally was attended by 3 thousand people. According to preliminary police data, no violations of public order were recorded.

According to the press service of the Governor of the region, the regional government commissioned an independent environmental audit of the project Tominsk GOK, later, RMK agreed to adjust the project, including the abandoned hydrometallurgy and moved the tailings storage facility in the korkinsky mine.
