The transition to green economy in Russia will occur with a delay due to the adequacy of hydrocarbon energy, said the head of Committee of civil initiatives, former Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin.

«Green economy is the inevitable future, and the world will quickly switch to these more sustainable, including renewable, energy sources. In Russia will be a little late this is happening because of the abundance and sufficiency in hydrocarbon energy,» Kudrin said during the all-Russian civil forum.

However, he noted that some companies in Russia have already started working in this direction, and cited the example of Rosatom.

Kudrin also believes that environmental requirements are to be obtained quite seriously. «And our proposals are proposals to strengthen environmental security. This element of quality of life, modern quality of life, so there is progress in toughening environmental rules and shift to more environmentally friendly types of energy will happen quickly enough, just the escalation of these things in the next six or seven years,» he predicted public figure.

In his opinion, Russia needs to «hurry» to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies.
