The Cabinet of the Russian Federation ordered to allocate 2.9 billion roubles to increase the international competitiveness of St. Petersburg state University (SPbSU), the corresponding decree published on the government website on Saturday.

«In the years 2014-2016 on the implementation of the tasks set by the decree of the President of Russia from may 7, 2012 №599 «About measures on realization of state policy in education and science» from the Federal budget allocated funds in the amount of 2.9 billion rubles for the implementation of the Program on the system to raise the competitiveness of the St. Petersburg state University among world’s leading research and educational centers», — the document says.

It is noted that the funds for further implementation of the programme to improve the international competitiveness of the University allocated by the government of the Russian Federation taking into account the positive results of the University entry into the world rankings.

As reported, the allocated funds SPSU will promote research activities and enhance its international competitiveness. Allocated by the state budget, the University will contribute to the enhancement of its positions in the world ratings, research and academic reputation, reputation among employers and the competitiveness of the University among the leading world scientific and educational centers.
