Europe is experiencing the most serious since the Second world war, the migration crisis, caused primarily next to armed conflicts and acute economic problems in Africa and the Middle East. In early July, the international organization for migration (IOM) reported that the number of migrants who arrived since the beginning of the year by sea to Europe, has already exceeded 100 thousand people. Almost 85% of them were in Italy.

As a result, for the first ten months of the year the number of refugees fell by 30% compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to 111 thousand people.
