Islamic anti-terrorist coalition gathered on Sunday for first official meeting, is not directed against any countries or religions, and sees the purpose of the fight against radicals and terrorists, said the commander of the coalition of Pakistani General Rahil Sharif.

Saudi Arabia founded the Islamic coalition against terrorism in December 2015, but no formal meeting was held for the first time. Riyadh came the Ministers of the 41 participating countries, as well as delegations of the observers.

«Military of the Islamic coalition sees its main objective the fight against terrorism, and not opposed to any nation or religion. The coalition strives to terrorism was the collective answer,» Sharif said, speaking at the meeting, which was broadcast on Saudi TV channel Al Hadath.

He noted that the coalition plans to release the media content to combat radical propaganda, to conduct military exercises and to prevent the financial flows of the groups. He added that he also plans to open a platform for exchange of intelligence.

As stated headed a meeting of the Saudi crown Prince and defence Minister Mohammed bin Salman al Saud, more than 40 countries sent «a powerful signal» about the readiness to work together.

Shortly after the founding of the coalition in December 2015 Mohammed bin Salman noted that the new unit aims to build not only a terrorist group «Islamic state»*, but also other groupings. Amid fears by some politicians and experts that the Islamic coalition will be a tool in the Sunni-Shiite confrontation in the middle East, the foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Adel al-Jubeir emphasized that the coalition is not exclusively Sunni.

The initial membership of the coalition included 34 countries later, he has expanded to 41. Neither Syria nor Iraq, where the armed forces confronted IG* is not part of the set up Riyadh group.
