Passed in the Russian Federation law on mass media-registered as foreign agents does not introduce any restrictions for foreign media, told RIA Novosti the head of the Federation Council Committee on constitutional legislation Andrey Klishas.

The European Union considers that the Russian law on the status of a foreign agent to the media is a threat to free and independent media in the country, said the official representative of the head of EU diplomacy Maya Kosyanchich.

«Adopted in the Russian law there are no limitations for activities of foreign media, and liabilities imposed on the media, which can be recognized as registered as foreign agents, are much milder than for example in the US,» said Klishas.

He is convinced that the statement of the representative of the EU against the Russian law on foreign media, which may be recognized as foreign agents in Russia, is «a new manifestation of double standards and Russophobia».

«While in the US and the EU openly violate the principles of freedom of speech and violate the rights of Russian journalists, the EU official is trying to teach the Russian Parliament to the principles of freedom of speech, which the EU and its main ally over the ocean, long abandoned,» said Klishas.Klishas: media law-registered as a foreign agent does not introduce restrictions on foreign media© RIA Novosti / Vitaly Podwyzki came under the control of
