Pope Francis said he continues to pray for the victims of the bloody terrorist attack perpetrated on Friday in Egypt.

«Great pain has brought us news about the massacre that occurred in a mosque in the North of the Sinai Peninsula. Continue to pray for the many victims, for the wounded and for all the community, which was dealt such a heavy blow. God, free us from these tragedies and support the efforts of those who work for peace,» the Pontiff said during the traditional Sunday sermon at the Vatican.

On Friday evening the Vatican’s Secretary of state cardinal Pietro Parolin has sent a telegram, which stated that the Pope condemns this inhumane act of violence against innocent civilians.

«His Holiness joins all people of good will, praying that the fierce hatred of the heart learned to abandon violence, which leads to such great suffering, and embarked on the path of peace», — stated in the message.

Last Friday, a group of terrorists organized the unprecedented brutality of the attack on the mosque of er-Road to the North of the Sinai Peninsula. Attacked civilians, the militants first detonated an explosive device, and then running out to shoot from the building of the mosque unarmed people with automatic weapons.
