Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov said on claims to the Russian law on mass media-registered as a foreign agent by forwarding a complaint to the U.S. justice Department.

Previously Director of the American Board of governors on issues of broadcasting (BBG), John Lansing said that the new RF law on mass media-registered as foreign agents is a mirror response «principle of reciprocity» to limit Washington’s work RT and Sputnik in the United States.

«The United States did not see the principle of reciprocity in the Russian law on mass media-registered as a foreign agent. But we promised the mirror, not symmetry. All claims to the US Department of justice,» wrote Pushkov in Twitter.

«The U.S. justice Department told RT: «Join and will work». We say the same thing. The US media is not closed. But they have become registered as a foreign agent», — he added.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed the law on the status of a foreign agent to the media on 25 November. According to the text of the law, registered as a foreign agent can be recognized by the media receiving financial support from foreign States or organizations. The decision about which media will be categorized as «foreign agents» will make the Ministry of justice.
