In Europe are increasingly aware of the meaninglessness and the futility of sanctions policy, says member of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Sergei Zheleznyak.

«In Europe, more and more understand their own inferiority without Russia to resolve the most serious problems and challenges, aware of the senselessness and the futility of sanctions policy and the inadequacy of anti-Russian hysteria» — he said, commenting on media reports on the deliberations of the Council of Europe the question of removing Russia from sanctions imposed over the situation in Ukraine in 2014.

According to the Deputy, the growing understanding in Europe is no alternative to dialogue with Russia was confirmed also by results of consultations of the representatives of the European Parliament with a delegation of Russian parliamentarians, which took place this weekend in Belgrade.

«We also made sure that reasonable Europeans all the more obvious becomes the lack of communication between the imposed against Russia sanctions and the crisis in Ukraine. In addition, the anti-Russian sanctions regime very considerably damages the national economies of the countries of Europe and causes great discontent among the European citizens. These tendencies are clearly demonstrated by the recent parliamentary elections in European countries, where voters supported the Patriotic — minded parties,» he said.
