The rate of growth of new cases of HIV infection in Russia has decreased in two times, said Minister of health Veronika Skvortsova.

«Although since 2006 there is an annual increase in the number of new cases of HIV infection, it was on average 10-12% per year, measures have allowed in 2016 to reduce the growth rate of new cases is almost twice», — said Skvortsova on Monday at a forum for specialists in the treatment and prevention of HIV infection.

The Minister noted that over the last ten years, the antiretroviral therapy coverage has increased almost six times in the period from January to September, the coverage of antiretroviral therapy amounted to 46% of all persons with HIV infection under medical observation. For the first 9 months of 2017 in 60 subjects of the Russian Federation coverage of treatment reached 44%, and 14 subjects — more than 60%.

«Almost managed to stop vertical transmission of HIV. Over the past 10 years, the rate was reduced in 3,5 times to less than 1.7%», — said Skvortsova.

According to the Minister, currently in Russia was about 30 international non-proprietary names for the treatment of HIV infection, production of drugs takes place at 16 sites.
