The Council of Europe has offered Russia help in the struggle for women’s rights

In the Council of Europe is ready to share with Russia the experience of the struggle for women’s rights, said the head of the Directorate of the Council of Europe on issues of democracy Marya Ruotanen during the meeting in the Federation Council.

«We were invited by the Ministry of labour in order to share views on the draft national strategy, we can say that it is ready to provide full support for the work with this strategy,» she said.

According to her, the strategy includes «many areas that can help women professionally and the issue of gender equality.» «There are some specific areas that we in the Council of Europe know well, we are ready to share the experience,» she added.

Expert of the Council of Europe recalled that a few weeks ago, the organization released a report on women’s equality in decision-politicieni. «It can be interesting both for you and for the other member countries of the Council,» said Ruotanen.

She also noted the experience, including regulatory, Strasbourg in combating family violence.
