The Moscow Patriarchate announced on 27 November the long-awaited public meeting «the murder of the Royal family: a new assessment and materials.» In the spotlight — the question of the authenticity of the so-called Ekaterinburg remains, which for years great concern to the Orthodox community.

The conference will be held on the eve of the Council of bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church, which opens at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on November 29. Already announced that the highest Church leaders will also discuss the investigation into the death of the last Russian Imperial family.

Does ROC «Yekaterinburg remains» — the king? It is not excluded that very soon — the forum and the Council of bishops — the answer to this question will become more apparent.

An unexpected discovery after 70 years

Members of the Royal family, their doctor Evgeny Botkin, and three servants were executed in the night of 17 July 1918 in the house of engineer Ipatiev in Yekaterinburg. In the Soviet period among researchers of the death of the Romanovs there were different assumptions about what became of the remains. The investigator Nikolai Sokolov, who launched the investigation in 1919, came to the conclusion that all 11 bodies were destroyed by burning and the effects of sulfuric acid in the area of Ganina Yama.

The other major version was based on the «Yurovsky Note» — the testimony of the organizer of murder of the Romanov, Yakov Yurovsky — the death and subsequent burial of the remains. According to this version, in the night from 18 to 19 July 1918 the bodies of members of the Royal family and individuals from their surroundings was buried at the Old koptelovsky road near railway crossing No. 184. The remains of two people were burned and buried nearby.

Burial on the Old koptelovsky road near Yekaterinburg in the so — called Porosencova the log for the first time found a group of researchers in 1979, but to say publicly about it then no one. In July 1991, it was made the official opening of the graves, in which were the remains of nine people, and in 1993, the Prosecutor General’s office opened a case on the investigation into the death of the Romanov family.

According to the investigation, found the remains belonged to the Imperial family — Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, and their three daughters — Olga, Tatiana, Anastasia, Dr. Evgeny Botkin, and three servants — Anna Demidova, Aloisio company and Ivan Kharitonov. Bone fragments, presumably Tsarevich Alexei and the fourth daughter, Grand Duchess Maria were found during the archaeological excavations in 2007 alone, South of the first burial.

The investigations conducted in the 1990-ies, came to the conclusion about the authenticity of the «Ekaterinburg remains,» and in 1998 they were buried in the vault of the Romanovs in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg. However, the Russian Church did not receive a response to several questions and requests for additional examinations, and did not recognize the results of the investigation. And in 2000 Nicholas II and his family members have been ranked the Russian Orthodox Church to the saints in the rank of «martyrs».

The Moscow Patriarchate has established a special Church Commission to study the results of a new study. The official speakers of the Russian Orthodox Church has repeatedly reminded that it is necessary to exclude «any speculation, and fit for any date».

The considerable public outcry, which is «the case of the Romanovs,» says at least that the government has considered the request of the Church and took the unprecedented step of allowing to reveal the «secret of investigation». Namely, although the experts may not disclose the results of the research to the closing of the investigation file, however, exceptionally, individual discussions with participants of examinations, with the permission of the Investigating Committee in July this year, began to publish the portal of the Sretensky monastery Orthodoxy.ru.

Thus, the results of some studies are already known.

What is known at this time

Among the most interesting discoveries — the discovery of «skull No. 4», presumably belonging to Nicholas II, traces of sabre (life of crown Prince Nicholas in 1891 in Japan tried to kill a police officer). As reported by the criminalist and forensic physician Vyacheslav Popov, was held to two modern x-ray study, and multislice computed tomography revealed on the right side of the skull two longitudinal indentations. According to conclusions of experts, it’s an old healed fracture, lifetime, which «corresponds to the strike of elongated cutting an object such as a sword.»

In addition, the study of the skull # 4 was revealed asymmetry of the chin, a feature that is clearly visible on photos of the young Nicholas Romanov («the right side of the mental Eminence expressed more than the left»).

At the same time, a comprehensive historical and genetic evaluation is not yet completed. One of the discoveries recently announced by the Secretary of the Patriarchal Commission Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov). Namely, that found a unique document — the certificate of the military Commissar Peter Ermakov on the order of the Chairman of the all-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTSIK), Yakov Sverdlov about the execution of Nicholas the Second. From this it follows that the decision to execute was made at the top. Only the Emperor and the entire Royal family, is still unknown.

Overall, we can conclude that the published research results, one way or another until confirm the conclusion of the investigation of the 1990-ies the authenticity of the remains found in Porosencova the log.

Version «Porosenkov log»

In the memoirs of members of the bodies of members of the Royal family and the entourage said that this process took place in two stages: after initial burial in the area Chetyrehvalkovoj mine (Ganina Yama), in the night from 18 to 19 July 1918 the bodies of all 11 people were taken to further their concealment and destruction to a more secure location — in the area of deep mines.

The mystery of the Royal tombs: the circumstances of the death of the Romanovs in Moscow to discuss© RIA Novosti / Alexander Galleryparty in fotoracconti will examine the «Yurovsky Note» about the burial Romanovitch due to the fact that the truck got stuck in the mud at the railway crossing No. 184, Porosencova log body decided to be buried there, and what may burn. According to investigators, was burned Tsarevich Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria, the remaining fragments of their bones (a few dozen grams) buried, and the remaining nine people have been disfigured with acid and buried nearby.
Questioned during the «white guard» of the investigation, the witnesses, nanocavities from 18 to 19 July 1918 in the area of relocation No. 184, also said that during the night in the area Porosenkov log the truck and the KGB.

Senior investigator-criminalist of the UK and former head of the investigation, Vladimir Soloviev, to investigate the murder of the Royal family from 1991 to 2015, in confirmation of the authenticity of the «Ekaterinburg remains» leads, for example, the fact that one of the bullets found in the area of Ganina Yama, was fired from the same gun that the bullet found in the burial of nine people in Porosencova the Log.

The mystery of the Royal tombs: the circumstances of the death of the Romanovs in Moscow to discuss© RIA Novosti / Valery Melnikova in fotobank Moscow has installed billboards with the correspondence of Nicholas II with genovi this grave showed clear traces of exposure to sulfuric acid on the skeletons of the dead, and nearby were found many fragments of the Japanese vessels from-under sulfuric acid and fragments of a covering of boxes from acid. Similar findings were made and the burials, presumably Tsarevich Alexei and Princess Maria (there was discovered a fragment vest heir).

Modern investigation, according to Solovyov, did not rule out that the burning of the two children of the king could begin in the area of Ganina Yama and continue in the Old koptelovsky road. To confirm the version that the bodies were burned using flammable and corrosive substances, is the fact that the burial of Alexei and Maria were found three bullets, in which there was no core, that is, the lead has flowed under high temperature.

Solovyov drew attention to the fact that during the first investigation of mitochondrial DNA of Alexandra Feodorovna and her four daughters, found in a grave near Yekaterinburg, coincided with the DNA of living descendants of Queen (Empress was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria).

Refuting the assumptions of some experts that in Porosencova the log was allegedly created «fake» the Royal tomb of the Bolsheviks, the investigator notices that the two graves in the Old koptelovsky road, not one object, explicitly pointing out the possible belonging of the remains of members of the Royal family. «In case of attempts of burial are «confirming» things probably would have appeared in the grave», — says Soloviev, connected to the discussion of the topic remains on the Church website.

On the contrary, the representatives of Soviet power, especially at first, tried to convince the population the idea of burning corpses. It was a guarantee that «no Amateur will begin the search for bodies and does not appear a secret place of worship to the relics».

Version «Ganina Yama»

In turn, the supporters version of the destruction of all the 11 bodies in the area of Ganina Yama remind us that the white consequence in 1918-1919 there were found the jewels of the split heavy sharp object. The explanation is there if the bodies were burned, cut to pieces, and therefore jewelry has also been cut.

Such a long time and in terms of proximity to the city of white «funeral team» could do nothing more than the destruction (burning) of corpses, some researchers believe.

Critically referring to the burial in Porosenkov log supporters version «Ganina Yama» celebrate «is too strong a shortage of bones» in the grave of the Old koptelovsky the road. For example, they cite evidence that all of this burial was removed about 800 bones, which the experts then gathered nine skeletons, and in total were missing at least one third of the bone. Hence, critics of the official version suggests that this burial is «not real» — here the bones were «planted» at a later date with a purpose.

Forensic physician, Professor Vladimir Zvyagin earlier at one of the conferences talked about the fact that the skeleton №4 (presumably the Emperor) is the skeleton of a «sick person, digestive Constitution, inclined to corpulence». While archival evidence suggests that Nicholas II led a very active life, constantly engaged in gymnastics, was very strong and tough person. In addition, while recent examination showed that the man belonging to skull No. 4, never treated teeth — it is known that the Emperor teeth treated.

Similar doubts among experts, critics version of «Porosenkov log», there are relatively skeleton No. 3, which relates to one of the daughters of the Imperial couple. As noted, this skeleton is the lowest of the growth (159 cm), and age from skeletons sisters — the elder. However, the eldest of the Grand duchesses was by no means the smallest on the growth…

Secretary of the Patriarchal Commission for the study of the «Ekaterinburg remains,» Bishop Tikhon (Shevkunov), once said that the judgment on religious worship or neochilenia them as Holy relics can only be «conciliar mind of the Orthodox Church». And for this we need to be patient and wait. After the completion of the investigation and receipt of all materials expertise in the ROC they want to spend according to their results, more extensive scientific and public discussion.

In July 2018, it will be exactly 100 years since the execution of the Royal family.
