The Prime Minister of Poland Beata Szydlo responded to the call of the head of the EP to ensure the safety of Polish MEPs, assuring that she strongly condemns any manifestations of aggression and intolerance.

Earlier, the head of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani announced that it will send Szydlo a letter asking to ensure the safety of MEPs from Republic. The statement of the head of the EP followed after the protesters in Katowice was hanged on a makeshift gallows portraits of MEPs voted in the European Parliament for the anti-Polish resolution.

«I strongly condemn the acts of aggression, intolerance, all manifestations of such actions. And I don’t agree that the police did not react because the investigation is on the case,» said Szydlo, quoted by the Polish Internet portal Onet.

She also noted that she would send a response letter to Tajani, in which they asked him to «pay attention to those MPs who in the European Parliament slandering Poland».

According to the organizers shares, the «hanging» of the deputies, they expressed protest against the actions of the opposition party «Civic platform», who previously voted in the European Parliament for the anti-Polish resolution.

The Prosecutor General of Poland Zbigniew Ziobro has said about the conduct of the Prosecutor’s check on this fact. Police are reviewing video demonstrations to find out is it possible to regard these actions as a violation of the law.

In mid-November the European Parliament adopted a resolution which provides for the launching of the mechanism of application of the EU political and economic sanctions against Poland for departure from democratic norms and the rule of law. The resolution we are talking about the application of article 7 of the Treaty on European Union, which may deprive Poland of the right to vote in the EU Council in case of establishing Council «of the existence of a clear threat of a serious breach of values» of the European Union.
