MOSCOW, November 28 – RIA Novosti. Russian conductor Valery Gergiev nominated for a major music award of the US Grammy Awards. This was reported on the official website of the award.

Geoview nominated in the category «Best Opera recording» for performing the works of Rimsky-Korsakov «the Golden Cockerel» by the orchestra of the Mariinsky theatre. Together with the conductor were nominated soloists Vladimir Felyauer, Aida Garifullina, Kira Loginova and producer Ilya Petrov.

Earlier it was reported that Grammy posthumously nominated Russian Opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Together with conductor Constantine Orbelian he was among the nominees for «Best classical solo vocal album» for CD «Sviridov: Russia set sail».

Hvorostovsky died November 22 after a long illness. The cause of death of 56-year-old singer has become a brain tumor.
