The office of the Governor of the Irkutsk region have announced an auction for the supply of 70 souvenir pens with a total value of 520 thousand rubles, they are designed for the traditional exchange of Souvenirs with the state, political and public figures, told RIA Novosti the head of Department of organizational support of the regional government Elena Kalenova.

Earlier, regional media reported that the government plans through the auction to purchase 70 gift pens – 30 stainless steel engraved silver worth nearly 4 thousand rubles apiece and 40 pens of premium class of jewellery of brass with inserts made of palladium 10 thousand roubles apiece. The handle should be in a gift box faux leather with a cardboard box and emboss «From the Governor of the Irkutsk region». The auction will take place on 4 December.

As explained by RIA Novosti, the head of Department of organizational support of the government of Irkutsk region Elena Kalenova, such purchases are conducted approximately every five years.

«Today, the Russian practice of Protocol require the uniform application of the main provisions of the state Protocol in the conduct of state visits, political and public figures. By longstanding tradition, handing out souvenir pens with the memorable engraving is a sign of special respect,» Kalenova said.

She noted that during the auction originally stated the price can be greatly reduced.

The last time such auctions were held in Irkutsk region in 2012. Then I bought 100 pens for the sum more than 800 thousand rubles.
