The decision of the Russian Orthodox Church on the remains of the Royal family will most likely be announced next year, told «Izvestia» head of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

«Probably the next, than this (year),» the Metropolitan replied to the question about when will be announced the results of the examination of the remains.

He said that the ROC «shall obtain conclusive evidence of their authenticity».

The last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family were shot in the summer of 1918 in Ekaterinburg. In 1991, a grave was discovered in Porosenkov log near Yekaterinburg (presumably the remains of the Imperial couple and three daughters, the Grand duchesses) and in 2007 near this place was found another burial (possibly of crown Prince Alexei and Grand Duchess Maria).

In 2000, the Russian Church canonized Nicholas II and his family canonized, after the opening of the graves near Ekaterinburg remains of members of the Imperial family were buried in the tomb of the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg. In the fall of 2015 the investigators resumed the investigation of the death of members of the Romanov dynasty.
