The Federation Council at session on Wednesday ratified the agreement between the governments of Russia and China on the protection of technologies and the cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.

The agreement was signed on 25 June 2016 in Beijing during the official visit of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to China. It is noted that the document is aimed at development of Russian-Chinese cooperation in space activities.

The document defines the principles and rules for cooperation in the field of space activities, regulating the volume and the order of access of the parties as to technical data and material-related joint projects at all stages of their implementation, according to the certificate agreement.

The agreement included provisions obliging the parties to implement adequate measures for the protection of the protected technology, and also provides for appropriate mechanisms to ensure such protection, including through the development and approval of specific plans for protection of technologies.

It is noted that the agreement is subject to ratification because it contains rules other than those stipulated by Russian legislation. Its implementation will allow to intensify the activities of domestic organizations and enterprises of space-rocket industry, providing them with additional orders.
