The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill has urged all the faithful to intensify prayers for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and expressed particular concern at the attempts of politicians to interfere in matters of internal Church life in Ukraine.

«Of particular concern are the attempts by certain political forces to interfere in the internal life of the Church, to prevent the registration of its communities, to enshrine religious discrimination at the legislative level», — said the Patriarch, speaking at the Council of bishops.

According to him, in this situation, the Metropolitan of Kyiv Onufry, the episcopate, clergy and all the faithful of the UOC-MP «in need of ardent prayers.» The Patriarch also noted that the events of recent years confirm that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church remains the only force able to unite the Ukrainian society.

«Courageous, balanced position of its hierarchy, not allowing to involve the Church in conflict on any of its sides, brings its good fruit. Bear fruit of the efforts of the Church to liberate captives, significant volumes of humanitarian assistance to the civilians of the Donbas affected by the hostilities. In peace feat the Ukrainian Orthodox Church manifests her love for Ukraine, its genuine patriotism», — said the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
