People’s artist of the USSR, first Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on culture Iosif Kobzon said that he had gone out of the expert Council and the Board of the Ministry of culture, because he was ashamed before the electorate for the activities of these organizations, he advised the Ministry to consult more with state Duma Committee for culture when making decisions.

Kobzon said that the Ministry of culture often ignores his queries about the restoration of monuments of culture, support artists and movie.

«I consider myself to be a passenger in this cart would be ashamed in its 80th year. I’m out, because I would be ashamed to answer to voters why this is not» — said Kobzon at the Committee meeting.

He stressed that it is not satisfied that the expert Council of the Ministry of culture decides on the awards and titles from regional artists.

«How can you insult regions of Russia, not trusting them? I think this feature should be taken away from the Ministry of culture, and to give to any culture Committee or the Council of Ministers, because the presentation is received from the heads of the regions who are better than us, Board members, know their creators,» — said the Deputy.

Last week Kobzon said that he had sent a letter to the head of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, in which he informed him about his withdrawal from the composition of the expert Council and the Advisory Board under the Ministry of culture. According to Kobzon, the expert Council examines the various kinds of encouragement and assigns of the title of artists. He noted that he does not want to accept the subjectivity of the decision of the Executive Board. The Ministry of culture later expressed surprise at the decision of the Director to withdraw from the Advisory Board and the Board office.
