The international policy of Russia in the middle East is gaining support and allies, said Tuesday the acting head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasiliev at a meeting with the battalion of the military police, who returned on Tuesday from Syria to Makhachkala.

Earlier, the chief of the military police of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Ivanovsky said that the battalion of the military police who came from Syria to Makhachkala, has returned to full strength without any loss. The units of the military police was sent to Syria in December 2016 to maintain security in the areas of de-escalation.

He noted that Dagestan is a particularly important work in the fight against terrorism, which the Russian troops were in Syria.

Addressing the military, Putin said that they brilliantly fulfilled their task, saved Syria as a sovereign, independent state, the country has created the conditions for a political settlement under UN auspices.
