The carrier rocket Ariane 5, which is supposed to launch four Galileo satellites, launched from Kourou in French Guiana.

The launch evening on Tuesday 11th with the beginning of the year for this site and the sixth Ariane 5 for launch in 2017.

On Board of the rocket there are four satellite navigation project, Galileo, the weight of each of which is 715 pounds.

Before the separation of the satellites from the rocket must pass 3 hours and 55 minutes.

The total cost of the Galileo project is about 7 billion euros. Each satellite system is approximately 40 million euros.

It is planned that by 2020, the orbit should be withdrawn 30 satellites of the Galileo constellation. The Galileo developers claim that their system is more accurate than GPS, and will provide Europeans independence from the American GPS, the Russian GLONASS and promising Chinese Compass. Putting the system into operation was originally planned for 2008.
