The decision of the President of the United States Donald trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in fact does not change the situation of Holy places in the city and the Palestinian population, said in an interview with the Saudi newspaper Elaph, the Minister of transport and exploration of Israel Yisrael Katz.

Trump in early December, made a statement recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the transfer of the us Embassy there. The decision was met negatively by many countries, primarily Palestine and the Arab States. The Palestinians held a mass protest.

«Trump declares what has already been done, that Jerusalem is our capital. It does not change the situation with the Holy places for all religions, does not change the situation of the Palestinians as residents of the city… they have the right to elect municipal leadership, but do not use it, have the right to receive all services,» said Katz.

He stressed that trump also talked about a unified Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and left the Eastern part of negotiations between the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Speaking about the prospects of settlement in the current situation, Katz said about the «weak position» of the Palestinians because of the split in the ranks of their political forces. According to the Israeli Minister, «the Palestinians now are not capable of any decision.»

«Deal of the century» in the Palestinian settlement, which previously promised trump, according to Katz, is still under preparation. «They will present something creative, like they say,» said the Israeli Minister.

Saudi newspaper Elaph, published in London, earlier in November, interviewed the head of the General staff of the Israel Gadi Gadi eizenkot. He then stated that Israel is ready to share intelligence with the moderate Arab countries to counter Iran.
