Transmission Corporation Roshen, owned by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, in a «blind» trust was the best alternative in the conditions when foreign business «was indifferent» to the purchase of the company, said managing Director of the banking house of Rothschild CIS Giovanni Salvetti.

Roshen — one of the world’s largest confectionery manufacturers, producing 450 thousand tons per year. The Corporation includes factory in the Ukraine, in Lithuania, Hungary and Russia. Poroshenko, proposing his candidature for the post of the President of Ukraine, promised in case of victory on elections to sell his main asset, but this has not happened yet. Sale of investment company engaged Rothschild, which in the context of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine are unable to find someone to buy Roshen. Share Poroshenko Roshen was transferred to the independent «blind» trust.

«The decision to place shares of Poroshenko Roshen (and not in the entire company, which also has a number of shareholders have a controlling interest, including the major minority shareholding of the Director General), in the format of «blind» trust is the most transparent and the only working option effective separation Poroshenko from his rights of ownership of shares. This decision was the best alternative to the international practices for such situations,» — said Him in an interview with the online edition «Ukrainian Pravda» published on Wednesday.

According to him, Rothschild was involved with all major world players, as well as some large investment funds with an offer to sell Roshen Corporation, however, «everything was very indifferent to the opportunity.»

«Ukrainian-Russian crisis was at its peak, and its development was unpredictable, especially at that time. Virtually all stakeholders reported to us that they are not ready to assume such a high risk, and politely refused. They all liked the company, but the context for them was too risky, and the transaction they were not ready,» he told Him.
