Roskomnadzor demanded YouTube and social networking sites to delete accounts of undesirable organizations, including the Foundation «Open Russia». Otherwise, the Agency threatened the hosting of the lock.

The press service of Roskomnadzor told that some sites have limited access to unwanted materials with others, including YouTube, the negotiations continue.

It is emphasized that the blocking of websites could lead to not only the placement of materials of undesirable organizations, and the publication of hyperlinks on them. «Placing a hyperlink to a potentially illegal online content, the media contributes to its spread», — stated in the official comments.

The decision of 12 December

A few days ago Roscomnadzor made in the register of banned materials 21 Internet resource of the organizations recognized in Russia is undesirable, and demanded to block these «mirror». This order applies to the pages of undesirable organizations in social networks.

The decision to block all resources of the «Open Russia» was made by Roskomnadzor on 12 December.

«We are blocked by the public Prosecutor, the law on undesirable organizations, which entered into force on 1 December. Accordingly, all resources of the organization that fall under this law will be blocked», —told RIA Novosti the head of Department Alexander Zharov.

Currently, Russia recognized unwanted 11 organizations, including those registered in Britain Fund Otkrytaya Rossia (Open Russia).

The Request Of The Prosecutor General

As explained by RIA Novosti, the Supervisory Agency, restricted access refers to those sites that disseminate «information materials of foreign non-governmental organizations whose activities are deemed undesirable on the territory of Russia». It is clarified that this decision was made at the request of the Prosecutor General

According to Roskomnazdor since the inception of the Unified register of prohibited information, the owners of almost 30 thousand sites restricted access to prohibited information. However, 3.5 thousand pages refused to remove it. Access to them is currently limited, but will be resumed after the requirements of the courts.
