. The heads of member States of the European Union unanimously called for the renewal of sanctions against Russia, said European Council President Donald Tusk.
The current sanctions expire in early 2018.

He also expressed the opinion that the extension of the sanctions would be «a fitting response to the failure to meet their obligations and a clear call for a change in policy of the Kremlin.»
Poroshenko also thanked the «friends of the EU» for the support of Ukraine.

«The future peace, security and prosperity of our European home depend on the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine», — he added.

Earlier, Poroshenko called himself the biggest supporter of lifting anti-Russian sanctions. However, as he argued, «Russia should withdraw all its troops» from Ukraine.
