At least two people were victims of the earthquake that occurred on the island of Java in Indonesia, reports the Jakarta Post newspaper, citing authorities.

Earlier it was reported about one killed and five injured.

As stated by the representative of the national Agency for the elimination of consequences of natural disasters, Sutopo Purvo Nugroho, the death toll has risen to two, injured seven. Several dozen homes were destroyed.

The earthquake of a magnitude of 6.4 occurred on the South coast of the most densely populated of Indonesia’s island of Java on Friday. Aftershocks were recorded in 16.47 in UTC time (19.47 GMT). The earthquake lies at a depth of 104 kilometers. The tremors were felt in the neighbouring large island of Sulawesi.
