The oldest woman in Europe Ana Vela died in a nursing home in Barcelona after 1.5 month after his 116 birthday, according to the publication Pais.

Ana Vela, a dressmaker by profession, was born in October 1901 in the municipality of Puente Genil in Andalusia, she had suffered from health problems. In recent years it has become a symbol of longevity Spain. One of her daughters turned 90 years old, a grandson — 65.

«She died in her bed in her sleep, without suffering,» — said the publication in a nursing home where a woman lived.

Earlier in April, Italy died 117-year-old local woman Emma Morano, who at the time was the oldest resident in Europe and the last living people born before 1900. Thus, after her death, the title of the most elderly resident of Europe went to Ana Vela, which at the time was 115 years.
