Two correspondents of National Geographic magazine were injured in the attack of a man with a knife in the Gabonese capital of Libreville, reports AFP.

As the Minister of defence, Etienne massart, the incident occurred in a popular tourist area. According to him, he was attacked by 53-year-old citizen of Niger. He was immediately arrested.

The detainee living in Gabon for the past 19 years, admitted that thus «took revenge for the US attack on Muslims and the us recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.»

The representative of the government of Gabon Alain-Claude Beale said that reporters were hospitalized, one of them is in serious condition. It is reported that reporters are citizens of Denmark.

In connection with the incident, an investigation was initiated. Authorities see the attack as an «isolated case.»
