Iran and Russia signed a contract for manufacture of wagons for Railways, told reporters the Minister of roads and urban development of Iran Abbas Akhundi.

«The contract was signed between Iran and Russia to start production of the cars for trains,» said Fundi on the sidelines of a transport conference in Tehran. «Will be produced 20 thousand freight cars and one thousand passenger within the framework of cooperation between Russian and Iranian companies», — said the Minister.

According to him, immediately after the signing of the contract will be made 6 thousand cars.

Iranian media reported in March that the Russian RPC «United wagon company» (UWC) has agreed with three Iranian companies to supply in Iran and the Assembly of rail cars. It was planned that the Iranian company will produce the car body and the OVK put wheels and brake system.

The head of Eximbank of Russia Andrey Polyakov in the middle of September 2016 reported that the Bank plans by the end of 2016 to Fund 1 billion deal for the supply of railway wagons RPC «United wagon company» in Iran, in the following stages it is planned to expand the supply and connected to this project, other large Russian banks, including VTB.

RPC «United wagon company» was established in 2012. The company works in the field of production, transport services and operational leasing, engineering and servicing freight cars of new generation. Main shareholder — ICT Holding Ltd. (owning shares through United Wagon Plc) — belongs of 74.71% of the HVAC investment company «ronin trust» — 13.1%, the remaining shares to private investors.
