The Minsk city court which considers a criminal case on incitement of national hatred against the authors of the Agency Regnum, attached to the case letter of Roskomnadzor about the lack of publication of signs of extremism, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.

In the course of the hearing, held in public, considered the criminal case against Dmitry Alimkin inciting national enmity or discord, Yuri and Sergei Pavlovets, Sipchenko — in the same crime, and illegal business activities. «Since we are talking about publications that came through the work of news agencies of the Russian Federation,… I believe that the opinion of Roskomnadzor is very important. Please attach a response (of Roskomnadzor – ed.) to the case,» said Monday in court Maria Ignatenko – the lawyer of the accused, Shipenko.

She explained that the defense had sent a request to Roskomnadzor about articles that appear in the case against her client. «They indicated that the publication of the … no signs of extremism,» said the lawyer. She clarified that this request was made because the Minister of information of Belarus Liliya Ananich said in December last year in the media that the Russian colleagues also found signs of extremism in the articles to which there are claims of the Belarusian side.

In addition, Ignatenko presented petitions to attach to the case file several documents, including explanations on the income of his client, reviews for psycho-linguistic expertise, and asked to call a number of witnesses, in particular, from among the conducted examination. She gave the court a statement of account of the accused, saying that he imputed blame to the income earned from the alleged illicit activities, derived from diverse activities, which could not be a «single intent». According to counsel, these revenues «barely exceeds the lower limit of the boundaries of criminal law.» However, she noted that accused him of «illegal» income includes payments in the framework of his official work as the editor of the magazine «New economy» and the loan from the physical person. The court took the decision on the admission of these materials to the case.

According to the Belarusian legislation, for intentional acts aimed at inciting national hatred committed by a group of persons, the accused is threatened with imprisonment for the term from five till 12 years. Illegal business activities, coupled with the receipt of a large income shall be punishable by a fine or by deprivation of liberty for a term up to three years.

Edition of IA Regnum informed, said that «categorically rejects the charges against the authors of the Agency’s accusations, calling them unfair and false», «reaffirms its unequivocal condemnation of manifestations of chauvinism, neo-Nazism and Russophobia in Belarus.» In this edition of Regnum consider the detainees to be political prisoners.
