Saudi Arabia can act as a trading hub for Russian agricultural production, reported RIA Novosti Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin.

«It’s a question to ponder and work with. Saudi Arabia is a traditional crossroads of trade routes, she has a convenient geographical location. Since ancient times, the people that lived there, traded with the surrounding countries, with Africa,» said Levin.

«They have the ability and desire to act as a trading hub for Russian agricultural products to buy it not only for themselves but also for neighboring countries. This requires the creation of adequate infrastructure, today it is for Russian products here, it is the task of the agricultural and logistics business this issue to work», — said the Deputy Minister.

It is reported that the RF Ministry of agriculture is discussing a similar project with the UAE, which are already trading hub. «But they are geographically located in the Gulf, and Saudi Arabia have access to the Red sea and quick access to Africa,» said Levin.

In his opinion, these projects do not contradict each other, they can complement each other.

Monday, December 18 in Riyadh is a business mission organized by the Ministry of agriculture, REC and RDIF. The negotiations involved nearly two dozen Russian companies from various sectors of agribusiness.
