Manufacturers of sprat from the Baltic States will have to compete for the Russian consumer, as domestic fishermen and processors provide a high quality product, told RIA news Agency.

Earlier on Monday, the Rosselkhoznadzor informed about the cancellation of the ban on the supply of canned fish from two Baltic companies. Latvian company SIA Karavela (Kaija brand) has a wider range of canned products, in particular, both conventional and large sprats in oil.

«Companies from other Baltic countries to return to the Russian market will seriously compete for a place on the shelf, as Russian consumers have already seen a higher quality and safety of domestic product», — said the press service of the Agency.

A ban on the supply to Russia of canned fish 44 31 Estonian and Latvian factories were introduced in the summer of 2015. The Ministry stated that the ban was linked to the identification of systemic violations, including the lack of control of safety of products and benzapyrene.

In addition, at the end of 2017 the government of the Kaliningrad region is projected threefold increase in sprat production in the region, the issue could reach 42 million conditional jars.
