The suspect in the murder of administrative officer of the British Embassy in Lebanon the driver of taxi service Uber has confessed to the crime, said the publication the Independent, citing a source in the Lebanese security service.

As the newspaper notes, the Uber driver had previously been convicted. According to the source, preliminary investigation of the incident revealed that the motive for the murder is not connected with politics.

On Sunday, the press service of the Ministry of interior of Lebanon, the southern suburbs (Dahei) reported that yesterday morning on the side of the highway was found the body of a woman. Later law enforcement bodies have established the identity of the murdered — it was a 30-year-old employee of the British Embassy Rebecca dykes, she was raped and strangled, then her body left on the track.

Security staff said that the taxi driver took dykes from the bar street, Gemmayze on Friday evening, and from there he took the girl into the fast lane where she was attacked and strangled with a rope. Detectives were able to calculate the taxi driver with the help of CCTV cameras road service, installed on a stretch of road between Dimasi and the river Mote.
