The Moscow city court on Tuesday toughened the verdict to the former Deputy Minister of culture of Russia Grigory Pirumov, increasing the penalty to one million rubles, but confirmed a 1.5-year term in the colony, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.

«Finally appoint punishment in the form of 1,5 years of a General regime colony and a fine in the amount of one million rubles», — decided the court.

In addition, the appellate court deprived Pirumov state awards — medals of the order «For merits before Fatherland» II degree.

However, the main penalty of 1.5 years imprisonment upheld. Thus, Pirumov escaped imprisonment in a colony, since a court of first instance dismissed him, because this time the former official has already spent in jail during the investigation.

The verdict now in force.

Pirumov was a key person involved in high-profile «case of restorers» — the machinations of culture and business, stole more than 100 million rubles on the restoration projects of the Novodevichy convent in Moscow Museum of cosmonautics in Kaluga and other objects.
