State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine (the state Committee) will begin to levy fines for the importation from Russia of printed products «anti-Ukrainian content», said Tuesday the press service of the Supervisory authority.

At the end of 2016, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a law on the mechanism of limiting access to the Ukrainian market of printed products «anti-Ukrainian content» from Russia. The authorities expect that these measures will stimulate the Ukrainian market of printed products, in particular, will become much more Ukrainian books. From may 14 to import into Ukraine of printed materials must be approved by USBC.

«Came into force the order of the state Committee of 17 October 2017 approval of the order imposing the State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine of administrative fines. Thus, completed the establishment of a legal mechanism of implementation of powers of the Committee defined by the law on the limitation of access to the Ukrainian market of foreign printed materials of anti-Ukrainian content», — stated in the message Department.

Now publishing the products that are manufactured or imported from the territory of the Russian Federation or «the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine» without the proper permission will be withdrawn from circulation by the authorised persons of the state Committee.

The withdrawal will occur on the basis of requests of law enforcement bodies, legal and natural persons in accordance with the previously approved government order. While on business entities that violate the law will be imposed administrative fine in the amount of 10 minimum salaries (about 1.1 thousand dollars) for each case of such distribution, perfect for the first time and in the amount of 50 minimal salaries (5.7 thousand dollars) for each subsequent case.

The state Committee noted that penalties will apply to printed materials imported into the territory of Ukraine after January 1, 2017. Citizens have the right without special permissions to import of books from Russia in hand Luggage or accompanying Luggage with a total amount of not more than 10 copies.
