Serbia intends to defend its sovereignty, not to engage in military alliances, including NATO because of the «heavy» relationship between Belgrade and NATO, said the President of Serbia Alexander Vucic.

«Serbia is the only country that wants to have an army and to maintain neutrality, we don’t want to participate in any military Alliance», — he said at a lecture at MGIMO.

He noted that not once was at NATO summits, where it is explicitly said that «Serbia in NATO does not want».

«Serbia will not go to NATO. Serbia passed in the national Assembly the decision on military neutrality, we want to protect our skies and our country, it is the decision of our people. We are too heavy story associated with NATO so we do thinking about how to become part of NATO,» the President added.

He stressed that States this in Moscow and in Washington, and, according to him, the Alliance, already know this.
