The project «open station» can implement in St. Petersburg, but only in the long term, said in an interview to the leading news agencies of Russia, the Governor of the city Georgy Poltavchenko.

He called such a project attractive for Petersburg. The length of such a railway may be of the order of 53 kilometers.

«In the capital, the 54 kilometer ring, and we have a semicircle – about 53 miles. Moscow, the construction of CIP cost about 140 billion rubles in prices of 2011, half of which funds allocated from the Federal budget through the funding of the Railways. While they initially train ring almost everywhere was double track, we have, unfortunately, mostly «adenopoda». Second, and probably the most difficult problem – the workload of our internal Railways freight transportation… Another problem – the crossing of railway tracks with road network,» — said Poltavchenko.

«The train washer has the right to life. But realize it is only in the long term,» added the Governor.

However, he noted that currently in St. Petersburg the issue of the construction of the circle line.

«Last summer I supported the so-called «Big ring» of underground for 40 kilometers, has already started some pre-project surveys. If it’s comparable amounts, we are the best in the metro will go. Metro city needs. And the question of a railway half-ring we have yet to seriously consider,» — said Poltavchenko.
