All checkpoints on the border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation and aircraft crossings already equipped with a locking system biometric data, said on Thursday reporters the head of the State border service of Ukraine Petro Cigital.

Thursday at the airport «Kiev» took place the presentation of the fixation system of biometric data of foreigners and persons without citizenship. Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said at the presentation that the system is running on 157 major crossing points on the Ukrainian border on 1 January 2018.

«On the Russian border is already equipped with all the border crossing points, equipped and air checkpoints. On the Western border still under work, but I think to 31.12 (2017 — ed.) we are done. And when you receive the necessary amount of money we have, I think, next year we will begin to equip local checkpoints that are directly in the districts and villages. They have no strategic value», — quotes words of the head of the border service, the Ukrainian news Agency UNIAN.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the decree about introduction in 2018 biometric control for foreigners at the border. He also instructed to improve legislation on the registration of foreigners, to develop a mechanism for prior notification of the foreigners entry to Ukraine, and also update the list of countries of migration risk, making him Russia.

According to state frontier service, biometric monitoring will involve the collection of fingerprints from foreigners, the availability of biometric passports for entry is not required.

Earlier in the Parliament of Ukraine there were calls to introduce to the Russian visa regime, but in Kiev believe that this will negatively affect Ukrainian citizens. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will proceed from the principle of reciprocity in visa matters with Ukraine.

As stated by the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense Franz Klintsevich, Russia will respond to the introduction by the President of Ukraine of biometric control for foreigners on the border; the answer is addressed to Kiev, but not the ordinary Ukrainians.
