The President of Russia Vladimir Putin, having supported desire of the Crimean people to return to their homeland, to save them from slavery, said the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

«Crimea is his brainchild. Crimea thanks to him in the first place, have returned to their historical homeland… I Want to remind you that the President saved the lives of me and hundreds of thousands of Crimeans. And the two million Crimeans freed from slavery. We are all the President in this part must,» he said in the program «a Serious conversation» in a live TV channel «First Crimean».

Aksenov stressed that the attention of the President to Crimea ensures its sustainable development, protection and assistance in the most difficult situations. Thus, according to him, never the Ukrainian President was not involved in the current problems of the Crimea.

«Everything was thrown on drift. Most all were looking for land and have solved some of their pressing questions. A comprehensive approach to the development of the Crimea no one ever came,» — said Aksenov.

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russia. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Kiev still considers Crimea its but temporarily occupied territory. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
