The UN resolution on human rights in the Crimea politically biased, prejudiced the rights of Crimeans by the West, said Friday the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

The UN General Assembly adopted on Tuesday, the Ukrainian resolution on the situation of human rights in Crimea. The resolution was voted 70, against — 26, 76 countries abstained. Among those who supported the initiative — the majority of European countries and the USA. In particular, the General Assembly condemned «the current temporary occupation by the Russian Federation of the territory of Ukraine,» reiterating «the non-recognition of its annexation». In the document Russia «urge» to carry out 12 recommendations to «put an immediate end to all violations and abuses of human rights against the inhabitants of Crimea».

«Everyone understands that it was such a politically biased resolution initiated by Ukraine, is already in such agony. No facts, no examples, nothing there. The more who contributed — Ukraine, which flagrantly commits a violation of human rights, infringement of freedom of speech and so on,» — said Matvienko in interview to TV channel «Russia-24».

She cited the example of the Ukrainian law on education, «where the rights of all national minorities in a rigid form, as opposed to all international and European conventions.»

«This country is making a resolution on the violation of human rights in Crimea. Yes, the first laws, which were adopted in the Crimea, the permission to study in the Crimean Tatar language and Ukrainian TV on the Crimean Tatar language, the presidential decree on the rehabilitation of peoples who were restrained in the rights», — said the speaker of the Federation Council.

According to her, cries about violation of human rights on the Peninsula are not from Crimea, they are from Ukraine. «But when the Crimea was part of Ukraine, then this whole mess happened. Therefore, we treat this as a politically biased resolution. Who infringes the rights of Crimeans, then it is just the West. What part of: they ignore the will of the overwhelming vast majority of Crimean residents would be barred from Europe, no visas, organize the blockade imposed sanctions. That’s who really infringes on the rights of the citizens of the Crimea», — said Matvienko.
